Flight Training Centre Information
Our flight training centre’s goal is to prepare our students to perform above the industry standard without further training done by the operator. We do this by combining structured ground school with real flight hours in demanding terrain, so graduates arrive at their first operational role already comfortable with the conditions they will actually be flying in.
A Helicopter Flight School in Calgary
The L R Helicopters Training Academy is a helicopter flight school at Springbank Airport, 135 MacLaurin Drive, Calgary, Alberta. Students learn on the Robinson R44 near the Canadian Rockies, where challenging weather, high altitude and busy airspace are part of normal training.
Programs at Our Calgary Flight School
- Private Helicopter Pilot Licence: 45 flight hours on the R44 and 40 hours of ground school. No previous flying experience needed.
- Commercial Helicopter Pilot Licence: 100 flight hours on the R44 II plus the flight test, in a course of a year or less. No previous flying experience needed.
- Air Transport Pilot Licence: for experienced commercial pilots working toward the helicopter ATPL.
- Advanced training: type ratings, night rating, VFR OTT, instructor rating and specialty training.
- International conversions for pilots licensed in another country.
