Job Description

As our Director of Maintenance (DOM), you will lead all aircraft maintenance operations, ensure compliance with Transport Canada regulations, and mentor a team of Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AMEs). This full‑time position averages 40 hours per week over a 52‑week cycle (more in summer, fewer in winter). 

Responsibilities

Key Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Maintenance Control & Compliance 
  • Manage the Maintenance Control System and keep the Maintenance Control Manual (MCM) current. 
  • Certify maintenance actions by signing maintenance releases and ensure all work meets airworthiness standards under CAR 571. 
  • Oversee and perform inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, overhauls, and modifications on airframes, powerplants, avionics, and other aircraft systems. 
  • Implement Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Service Bulletins, and Service Letters. 
  • Maintain accurate technical records, journey logs, and life‑limited component histories. 
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), company policies, the Canada Labour Code, and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) requirements. 
  • Quality Assurance & Safety 
  • Lead the Quality Assurance Program and conduct internal audits. 
  • Drive the Safety Management System (SMS), report service difficulties, and ensure safety issues are addressed promptly.
  • Maintain a safe and organized hangar, ensuring all personnel follow safety and OSH procedures. 
  • Team Leadership & Training 
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate AMEs and apprentices. 
  • Coordinate recency and type‑specific training for staff. 
  • Liaise with flight operations to plan maintenance schedules and manage aircraft availability. 
  • Act as the primary contact with Transport Canada and regulatory authorities. 
  • Administration & Planning 
  • Manage budgets, tooling, inventory, and technical records. 
  • Contribute to operational planning and continuous improvement initiatives. 

Qualifications

  • Valid Transport Canada AME licence M1 with strong rotary‑wing experience considered. 
  • 10 years of aircraft maintenance experience, including leadership responsibilities. 
  • Strong knowledge of CARs, the Canada Labour Code, OSH requirements, and Maintenance Control Systems.  
  • Proven experience serving as a Director of Maintenance. 
  • Experience maintaining AS350, Bell 212, R44, and EC120 helicopters, with additional type experience considered an asset.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
